I received the colour Dark Blonde from the Schwarzkopf hair mascara range as part of the Glosscars trial team and fund this to be a good colour match for my hair. I only have a few grey hairs along the hairline so this was a great solution for the 'in-between salon visits'. The product was easy to apply to this area of the hair as the small mascara like brush is fine and precise. It is smaller and finer than a mascara brush so allows for very specific application to these highly visible areas. I found there was no messy clumping although the product dried very quickly, so you need to get it just where you want it........ AND the beauty of this product is that if you got it in the wrong spot you can just wipe it out and try again.

I love the portability of this mascara wand for anytime touch-ups. However, a word of warning....... Be wary of wet/rainy days. While this product delivers good coverage too much weather can wear the colour down.

The Schwarzkopf Hair Mascara comes in a round cylindrical tube, like most of your regular eye mascaras, except this tube is quite fat and bigger than most of my mascaras, making it easy for me to pick it out quickly from my regular beauty tools, and distinguish it from my eye mascaras.

I have naturally dark hair that I have been having professionally coloured blonde, so I trialled the Dark Blonde shade. The aim of the hair mascara is to disguise any grey hair, not to try to disguise any dark hair regrowth, and I have found it does a great job with this. My hair is turning very grey, so I went blonde as it is easier to blend the dark and grey peppery hair regrowth into a blonde colour, than it was to recolour my roots with a (naturally homogenous) dark colour, to cover those pesky greys.

I’m not a huge fan of the grey hair root retoucher colour sprays, as they colour my skin also and tend to cover the hair in ‘block’ type patterns that end up looking like you have rather ‘fake’ and painted on hair. What I love most about this hair mascara is that I can easily control which hairs or sections of hair are coated with the mascara wand, and how lightly or heavily I can apply it so as to not let it look clumpy. The wand lets me control a result that gives me a natural and blended look which not only covers my grey regrowths, but it also blends in with the rest of my coloured hair. While I wish there was a slightly lighter blonde colour available for the hair mascara, I find even though it is a little on the dark side, being a wand where I can control coating each hair or section of hair separately, gives me the great ability to blend it in ideally with the rest of the hair colour. The only down side of the wand, is that sometimes individual hairs will wrap around the wand whilst applying it, however it is easy to just remove those individual hair before returning the wand inside the tube.

Its a great concept and the colour I chose was the perfect match to my hair colour.
The packaging is very compact and can easily fit in my handbag for those urgent touch ups when you don’t have time to go to the hairdresser.

Although the tube looks like a mascara the brush itself has very hard bristles which makes sense as it does get to those areas properly and properly conceals the grey areas.

The consistency of the product is very thick but not clotty at all and no fragrance which is a nice thing.
The only thing I didn’t like about the product is that its not waterproof so you can’t put it on when its very humid outside it’s raining as it just smudges. I don’t know how waterproof product would have worked with shampoo but it makes sense if you live in humid areas but I really the concept of having it as mascara.

Schwarzkopf Hair Mascara is a fantastic,quick and easy way to fix little hair emergencies (like the dreaded "ash blonde" re-growth within your natural hair colour at the worst possible times....especially now we can socialise a little now) with no appointments,no fuss and no fear of "this colour isn't me,how do i get it out now" regrets.
This little tube comes in a variety of shades (from the light blonde i received,to the deepest raven) that applies,literally,like a mascara (yep,wand application),and washes out at your next wash easily,yet stays put in your hair with no dripping,no mess (bathroom sink friendly),no fumes, and no staining of your natural colour after you wash out (important if you have very light blonde like i do...it may wash out,but some have left traces of colour before for me,and it's not what you want).
I used this through my root area,then swept down the lengths to get a seamless colour match,and whilst it wasn't a perfect match,it was enough to help coven the fact i haven't seen a hairdresser in over 18 months (and needed to), as well as give me a little shade definition within my pale blonde root / midlengths hair...but did it stay put ? Well,after 12 hours (mostly inside),it still looked good,but i don't think it would last in either a downpour or a super humid Sydney day (and it won't tolerate a swim...that i did test out),but if you want some extra confidence during the day or for a special occasion,this is a great stand by to have (and at under $20 for a tube,it is a lot less exxy than a colour at the salon..plus it fits in your bag,so touchups on the run is as easy as re-doing your lippy).

I received the Schwarzkopf Hair Mascara in Dark Brown, and I was very excited to try it. Coming into my thirties, I have now come to terms with the fact that I have random strands of grey hair throughout my hair, which is particularly noticeable (to me at least!) given my hair is quite dark. Grey root touch up products for that reason have never really worked for me, so I was keen to give this hair mascara a go.

The product looks exactly like a mascara. It has a plastic wand with short spiky bristles which help to evenly coat the hair. To use, I simply take small sections of my hair where my greys are and use short strokes with the wand to coat the hair evenly with the colour, being sure to always go from the top of the strands to the bottom for even coverage. To achieve an even coverage and to make sure the hair still look and felt natural, I was careful not to apply too much product. I was pleasantly surprised – the mascara applied evenly to the hair, the colour and finish was even and matte, it was so simple to use and the wand was just the right size to coat the small sections of hair that I needed. The product dries very quickly which is great when I am in a rush in the morning of before going out in the evening, and all I need to then do is gently brush my hair to help blend the product in.

Overall, I think this hair mascara is ingenious. The precise applicator brush makes this product really work, the quick drying formula makes it convenient and the natural-looking colour result is exactly what I needed – it really does make me feel more confident in between salon visits. I love that it is suitable for daily use, however I find it tends to last in my hair until the next time I wash it which is great. I didn’t have any issues with colour transfer or my hair feeling stiff. I’m really impressed with this product, and I will now be carrying it around in my handbag!

This Hair Mascara is a great idea! I have tried certain grey covering sprays in the past and they haven't worked as well as this product.

This product looks just like a fat tube of mascara and the wand looks like you could use it on your eyelashes. However I haven't tried it that way, and probably wouldn't recommend it just in case. However I did use it to brush and lightly fill in my eyebrows a few times and it works really well for that too!

But the main reason I have been using this product is to help to cover up my many, many grey hairs that keep showing up in clusters all over my head! I haven't had my roots coloured in ages so it's quite noticeable. This product does the best job at covering up my greys and helping them blend into the rest of my hair at a more youthful looking shade! I have this in the colour "Dark Blonde" and it's perfect!

The formula reminds me of certain eyebrow mascara wands I have used before which is probably why I tried it for that purpose additionally. So if you have tried those kinds of product you'll know what I mean. It is so easy to use and dries fairly quickly so you can brush your hair and it stays in place and looks nice and natural.

I was honoured to have received this as a part of the Glosscars trial. I was a little perplexed how I was going to use this as I don’t have any grey hairs but thought it might be good in between trips to the salon for a cut and colour.

I received the dark blonde shade and like that it’s easy to use. It comes in a “mascara” style package, just a bit larger. It has a slightly off putting smell to it but it’s not that strong.
I applied it to the temple area of my hair as I figured they were the lightest. It’s not clumpy and applied quite well.
I couldn’t see a huge colour change but I think that’s a good thing. If it blended in and I have to say I was tempted to see how much went on, so I used a tissue to wipe it off. Quite a reasonable amount went on and I did actually like it when I wiped over it to blend more into the hair.

I was interested to receive this hair mascara to trial as I have not really used many products like this before and never really saw the need for them either.
I liked the way the mascara-like wand gave you precision when it came to applying the colour to your hair as it allowed you to select only a few strands at a time so that it didn't end up all over your hair if you don't need too much coverage.
I tried the medium brown shade for my dark blonde to medium brown hair and it blended in perfectly with my natural hair shade.
Each morning if I was going somewhere I used this hair mascara to cover the few grey strands I have appearing at the front of my hair as well as on the sides. I found that it was best to style my hair and then use the hair mascara to gently sweep over the grey strands until they were covered and not noticeable at all.
My only concern was if I used it prior to working out or on a really hot day as I was worried it might run or come off onto my hands if I wasn't careful but I didn't actually end up noticing this happen at all which was a nice surprise.
This isn't something I would use often as I am not really that fussed with covering my grey hairs all the time, but it might come in handy for a special occasion to make my hair look a bit more even.

Schwarzkopf Dark Blonde mascara comes in a pretty pink and black box. Inside is a tube of what looks like mascara. Now I have only had a chance to use this once as I had recently had my regrowth done at the hairdressers and had to wait until I had some regrowth.
So I applied to the roots, as that is where my greys come through, it was really easy to apply with the applicator wand, however unfortunately for me this is probably better suited to people with darker hair. This product did actually disguise my grey roots, but left me looking like I had a bad regrowth. I do love that it was easily washed out, and wasnt really too messy. If I had dark hair and wanted to use this product, it would work magic and I would be a staunch fan, as it would definitely hide the greys.
