i'm having problem with my eyes, they become drier than usual in winter thanks to the wind, office aircon and heat from heaters. I wonder whether any have any recommended eye drops for dry eyes that i can look into?
I just got back from reading a mag at the dental surgery, while waiting for my daughter to have her dental stuff done, and I was reading an impressive ad for Murine drops. They could be appropriate maybe?
thank you softness. there are so many brands out there and i get confused! Thanks for your suggestion.
I have dry eyes and had an opthomologist check it out and on my way out he handed me the Systane Restorative Formula eye drops and they are quite good.
Prior to this I had tried the Systane eye drops that came in the pink and green packing and it wasn't as effective.
The restorative formula comes in a purple and silver box and is about 10$ at chemist warehouse.
Tip: put your eye drop bottle in the fridge to get a cooling effective when you dispense product in your eyes.
Optifree Comfort drops Cellufresh*
Methopt Forte Vismed* (expensive, excellent)
Clerz single use vials* Refresh Liquigel
Bion* Poly Gel*
For Dry eyes you can try all these Eye drops. They all differ from each other only depend which one suits you.
I've suffered from dry eyes for 25+ years - I medically have a condition Sjorgens Syndrome that dries the eyes & mouth. I had to stop wearing my beloved Contact Lenses when it started & learned to manage the symptoms day to day.
I think the best eye drops on the market are Optrex Actimist - the ones that are sprayed onto closed eyelids. Honestly, I know it sounds weird, but boy do they work a treat - I spray mine on before any eyemakeup, but you can also spray over makeup & I find it doesn't seem to affect my makeup. They are very soothing, easy to take with you, and won't leak. The only downside is price ie 2 x the price of any good other regular eyedrops, but they do last & last, so I've found the price isn;'t an issue
How often so you use it and how long does the entire product last?
oh wow, this sounds interesting. I've seen it on TV but i know no one that use it. Thanks for your suggestion!
Systane ultra lubricating eyedrops are the best.
Thanks GildedButterflies, shefali935, Linda_Vesinger and Leonie662 for your suggestions. i now have a long list to check out, but i will put those ones that you personally use at the top of my list!
I used to have red dry eyes all the time from starting at a computer screen, now I use the spray eye drops (I freak out too much putting the drops into my eyes). You can buy them in coles/woolworths or chemists and its helped me dramatically.
It also means that when I am out and about I can just spray it over my eyes and continue on with my day.
Story of my life. I sit up to 9 hours in front of the computer screen and I used to have red dry eyes. I use Systane eye drops and take an eye supplement Zealut Dena.I can say that I have seen a lot of improvement.
i just got the optrex eye drops for tired eyes.
it seems ok for temporary relief, but is no different in terms of eye moisture opposed to having a good cry...
i'm still on the hunt for the perfect eye drops for hayfever eyes that turn bloodshot during bad summer days...
sometimes I find trusty old saline solution does the trick
I wear contact lenses for about 12 hours a day so my eyes can get dry easily. I haven't had any eye infections so far! Dry eyes can lead to infection.
I use systane right now; before putting contacts in and after taking them out. Sometimes in the middle of the day if my eyes feel uncomfortable.
I also like refresh liquigel. It's thick and keeps my eyes moist for longer.
my eye specialist gave me Systane Ultra.
preservative free and comes in individual doses like Refresh. Suits contact lenses users.
There was this german brand i used that was excellent. no preservatives. Throw in 30 days. need to get that to the chemist to buy that. Can't remember the brand. It's available without prescription.
Going to reply with my suggestion then saw this goes back to last year!
I'll add my suggestion anyway in case someone else has dry eyes.
83 yo friend has monthly injection for macular degeneration and suffers 'gritty' eye for a few days following and his specialist said to use TheraTears.
Recently my daughter was told to use TheraTears after visiting optometrist - suffers dry eyes from air conditioning. Told many if these other eye drops work initially but when you continually use them they are ineffective.
TheraTears can be bought at chemist (no prescription) and come in handy ampoules.
Heres further explanatory info
Thanks for the suggestion Kassalee, I'll definitely keep an eye out for these eyedrops, they look great
Thanks Kassalee. Love that it comes in ampoules, so convenient and hygienic!
I am looking at all your suggestions of different branded drops to buy. All of a sudden one eye feels like it has grit in the corner of it. I have looked but can't see a reason perhaps an eyelash somewhere. I'll try some of the suggestions for dry eye. Thanks.
I have dry eyes as well. I have glucauma and unfortunately for me my eye drops not only have me asthma it also made my eyes dry. I have tried different dry eye drops over the years and the one that really works for me is called blink. I use it 2-3 times a day to lubricate my eyes. I asked my optometrist as to how many time s I should used my drops and she told me if you feel like that there is something in your eyes than use the drops. It is like when you are thirsty you drink water the same principal applies to our eyes. Good luck. Hope this helps you.
Thanks Anita71. I will look for Blink next time. We have some from the Optometrist at the moment but a different brand.
I've used the eye spray. It is amazing and I really recommend it. Easy to apply anywhere and no running "tears" down your face. Good with makeup too!
What brand eye drops do you use?
i am afraid of eye makeup going into the eye. :(
Thanks for all these suggestions, my Mother inlaw has problems with very dry eyes. I'm going to buy the eye spray for her because of these recommendations.
I have always had issues with dry hair with oily roots, so I was excited to give this hair mask a go.
Very expensive moisturiser. It comes in a jar and you do get a nice large amount of 48mls. The cream is very thick and you only need a small amount.
These little kits are the perfect nail polish sets you need, the size is perfect and fits anywhere, even when you travel you could pop it into anything plus it passes through customs during your fl
