My salon in Perth (Stevie Vincent Studios) has recently announced that they are now a sustainable salon, I haven't heard of this before and thought it would be great to share and get more awareness about this option - the end result for me is a $2 fee on my service.
I took this little write up from their page, as it is better than the summary I can give. - 95% of our waste is repurposed or recycled & saved from landfill - All proceeds from recycling salon matierials are donated to not for profit organisations that help humanity. - Hair is used to make hair boons that soak up oil spills in the ocean. - Proceeds are donated to provide meals to the homeless.
So far @sustainablesalonsanz has kept over: - 52,000kg of plastic out of landfill - 7,500 litres of chemicals recycled into water - 48,000 meals provided for the homeless - Saved the same amount of CO2 as 180 flights from Sydney to London
What do you beauties think? Is this something that should be adopted by everyone in the beauty/hair industry?
