has anyone has laser hair removal and how did you find it?
i have had 10 sessions and its still growing back,,, have i been scammed??
Yes. I found it worked in some areas for me and not in others. I had something along the lines of a dozen treatments. I'm 44 and had a few hairs appearing on my chin. Only a couple but enough to annoy me so I had that area done and I have found that's one of the areas where it hasn't worked. I put it down to hormones. I have stopped having it done for now but will do it again somewhere down the track.
I had my lip done about 6 years ago. I was happy with the results at the time but was warned I might need touch ups because some areas of the body might be affected by hormones which will stimulate new growth, the lip being one of these areas. Sure enough 3 kids later and I'm back getting laser on my lip. I cant wax my lip as its too sensitive, so i still think the laser worth it, even if only get 2 years out of the treatment.
It really depends on your skin and hair colour. You have to pick the right one for you to ensure maximum effectiveness. Apparently the best candidates for IPL are those with light skin and dark hair. I have tan skin and black hair and I have had Yag laser done as laserclinics on my underarms. I have had approximately 12 sessions and it pretty much doesn't grow any more except some very very fine ones. I have recently started Super Hair Removal on my legs and I've only had 3 sessions so far but it seems to be working. Just make sure you are well informed about the right types of laser for your skin. Not all of them will work and you could end up wasting a lot of money if you go in without doing your homework. Good luck :)
I've actually bought my own IPL machine at home and have starting using that and have noticed a difference, although I must admit at first I didn't and I don't always do it regularly so it doesn't help the progress being fast results. It does state on it that it works best on dark hair and my hair is not "dark" as you would say but still evident and to use it once a week but I found if I used 2 times a week it worked best and quicker. Hubby uses it as well and as his hair is darker and courser you can really notice the difference on him. Good Luck :)
nataliadimi which brand IPL did you buy? I'd like to invest in one but given the cost I want to make sure I'm getting an effective one - your recommendation would be appreciated :)
I bought a Remington I-Light Pro on during a special at the Shaver Shop about a year ago. It was about $400 down from $800. I wish it worked faster but it does work. I use it every three weeks on my legs and underarms. I have bald patches on my legs, but the hair that is still growing is much finer.
I have light skin and medium brown hair.
Look the Laser hair removal works best on dark thick hair. For me being a teenager (hair is supposed to be at its craziest) I've done about 7 for my under arms, though its not completely gone it is defiantly much thinner and I hardly ever shave it. My legs have been done twice and for me it has had noticeable improvements. I got mine done at the Laser Clinics in Chatswood and the people there have been a great help and taught me all I need to know and made sure I was getting my monies worth. Try talking with them and seeing if it actually has any effect on you and maybe if they could increase the levels from what they're doing now.
I don't know about hair being at its craziest in your teens. It's old women who sprout whiskers!
good advice, I always thought that IPL is permanent. I guess not as permanent as I would like to think
I had 14 sessions and found a 99% permanent reduction in hair growth. My only failure was that I kept having sessions when I had no hair growing back, so it affected nothing. You MUST have hair that is dark enough for your treatment to work. If your hair has not grown in from your last treatment yet, cancel your appointment and rebook later.
You are spot on. It is best to have laser treatments when the hairs grow back. The clinic I went to uses the latest Candela Gentlelase machine and the results have been great especially on my underarms and full brazilian. For some tough hair strands down below I decided to have some electrolysis treatments to permanently get rid of them.
I bought a package that included 6 sessions, I have really dark hair and now after the six sessions i have about 1/3 of hair still growing back. My hair is pretty tough so I was told it may take more sessions. So it really just depends on you hair colour, skin type, hair type and the cycle the hair is in when the laser session happens. You should alternate between three week laser sessions so that you get every cycle of the hair.
Good results but dont be disappointed if hair comes back after few years,,,,most of the poeple would need touch ups,,,,
I had Brazilian laser treatments a few years ago & the results were fantastic! If you're in Sydney, I went to Ywax at Parramatta.
Next I got a IPL at a different salon through a Groupon type deal. I got my thighs done, but it wasn't as effective as the laser. I had fewer sessions though.
I won a BaByliss IPL home device through beautyheaven, but it was too recent for me to notice a change yet. I've only had four treatment sessions. I won't be able to go into too much detail when it's time to review this item, so I'll be starting up a forum thread when I've had a few more sessions.
Remember, new hair can grow at any time! Those old women you see with whiskers didn't have them when they were young.
Your last sentence has me giggling :D
I'm about to get IPL done so I'm hoping that it will work for me.
lol me too Jessica. So funny missy8!
Hey I've been getting laser done on my whole body (literally from head to toe, including my face because I have a lot of peach fuzz) for the past few months and I love it!! Its amazing and has made my face look soooo much clearer and I can do almost a month without shaving my legs, its such a relief especially around summer time
I had laser hair removal on quite a few areas of my body too. The clinic I go to uses the Candela Gentlelase and the results were great. Some hairs still grow back after all of the brazilian treatments so I am having a few electrolysis treatments done to permanently get rid of those handful of strands.
Yep, I'm halfway through a treatment on my underarms and stomach, I am fair skinned with quite dark hair so apparently that works well! I used to epilate and in comparison laser hair removal is much quicker and less painful!
I had my bikini line done about 10 years ago, probably about 10 sessions all together. It is great occasional stray hair i pluck but got rid of 99%. Also did underarms i haven't shaved pits since. i went to a lady who worked out of a plastic surgeons rooms so very high tech. She said it works best on dark hair, not well on blonde, grey or red hair.
As others have mentioend, it depends on your hair type.
I have my underarms done about 7 years ago at the Hairfree Centre (a chain all through Australia I think) and have a bit growing back, but its quite sparse so i dont even realise it's there most of the time.
I got brazillian done as well at an independant place in Melbourne who always had super cheap deals,i probably had close to 20 sessions and though it obviously worked, there's still a fair bit of growth. I did get told that a lot of places that do Groupons etc turn down the intensity of the machines so you have to keep coming back for more sessions.... with my results that doesnt actually surprise me.
I've had about 13 treatments now on my bikini and underarms. I have found that the hair still grows back unfortunately. Whilst it may not grow back as thick, it's still enough for me to have to shave every week. I go back for a session every 8 weeks approx to get a refresher which I find prolongs the time it takes for the hair to grow back.
Personally, I waxed my legs for some 12 or 13 years and then I did laser twice, the last time being around 4 years ago. I barely have any hair on my legs now. I tweeze whatever does grow. From the waxing, I already had patches in which hair had stopped growing.
My mum's underarm hair has stopped growing in patches and she only does it once a year, a total of 3 times so far. My underarms haven't had such luck and I've done it 5 times. Both of us have always shaved the underarms.
I've had my underarms and sides of face done and am currently getting my lower legs including toes done.
I found that the side of my face has worked the best. Only needed a few touch ups as I wasn't fully satisfied on the length of my new sideburns and just some stray hairs here and there.
My underarms originally did great, only had to shave them once a month, got rid of the shadow but my underarm hair as always grown fast so now I'm finding it's getting more to every two weeks just for there to be some stubble but that's still pretty good. The hair is a lot thinner and lighter in colour too.
My legs are great. I have 6-8 weeks between appointments and I think the only time I'll shave them is the day of the appointment. Some hairs grow back the normal dark colours, others are getting lighter.
You won't get 100% hair removal. No matter how many sessions you get. I got told I'd get a 70-80% removal rate. I'm always gonna have to remove hair, but at least it won't be as often.
So laser and IPL are 2 completely different things.
Before I did my laser (which was about 8 years ago) I researched and the general concensus at that time was the result of laser lasts longer than IPL. At the time Candela Gentlelase (the name of the machine used in the salon) has the best review.
I had everywhere lasered (except my head). Brazillian was the most stubborn and it took me a dozen of sessions to completely get ride of everything. Lower leg was most effective - Only 3 sessions and I never (I really mean never in the 8 years) had to shave again. Under arm was somewhere in between.
I still have to touch up my brazillian and underarm every 2 to 3 years or so for both regrowth and new hair. But overall very happy with the results. I have fair skin and dark hair which is the best hair type for laser. I went to this place called "Cosmetic Laserbeam" in both North Sydney and Chatswood (Lea was fantastic) but I don't think this salon exists anymore (or it has changed name).
This product is based on plant stem cells! Such a great concept. Andalou is an American company, cruelty free and vegan, so good! Packaging is simole. And clean looking.
