Help! Oily hair
Help! Oily hair
Hi all,
I just wanted to see if someone knew if the age old tale of if your hair is oily lengthen the wash time???
I have typically dry limp hair but recently I have been so oily within one day or so of washing..... Dry shampoo makes me itchy so I’m looking to try only washing once or so...... I’ll take any advice xx

After several applications where I adjusted the amount of gloss applied I have to say that for me this was a big fail.
Great coverage for acne prone skin
I like this product it provides light- medium coverage depending on your application. You could also use it as an effective concealer too.

My baby twins spent 3 months in hospital after birth. The NICU handwashing procedures left my hands sore, cracked and bleeding.

I haven't heard that Hoots, but I typically take a while to shampoo my oily hair. I ALWAYS double-shampoo my hair.
Yes, actually I have been able to stretch out washing my hair and hair is less oily. I.e. I used to NEED to wash it every day, then every 2 days. Lately my hairdresser asked me to just stop washing my hair that often (recently coloured). First few weeks was so difficult because it looked oily and it's itchy. But I persisted and now my scalp seems to be autoregulating, and I can wait for 5-7 days if I want to without it feeling too oily or looking gross. Like mis8, when I wash I double shampoo.
Well they say a similar thing about oily skin, so I would say it is true. It can just get oilier if it is overcleansed, because it compensates by making more oil, then you get in the habit of washing more and it's a cycle that you get stuck in. I think you can 'teach' your hair but you may have to put up with oily hair for a while.
Everyone is different so try new ways and decide what works for you. Personally I can't go more than 3 days but I use a sulphate free shampoo.
Thankyou everyone, I’ll start stretching out the washes x
Wash more often. People with really oily hair may need to shampoo up to once a day and Condition carefully
